The Puzzle Mansion Bed & Breakfast in Barangay Asisan, Tagaytay is home to the museum that houses the largest collection of jigsaw puzzles in the world – all assembled by one amazing lady, Gina Gil Lacuna, over a period of 28 years.
She started piecing puzzles together at the age of 35 and slowly built up her collection to one that would make her the Guinness World Record holder for having a whopping 1,028 puzzles, the Largest Collection of Jigsaw Puzzles in the World.
My favorite puzzles were the ones that depicted different travel destinations. Made me feel so relaxed just looking at them.
From the time she became the Guinness World Record title holder, she since has added two more massive pieces to her collection – the Ravensburger Puzzle, which is the world’s largest puzzle made up of 32,000 pieces, and the world’s second largest puzzle with 24,000 designed by Royce B. McClure.
These puzzles were located on the second floor of the museum leading to the gift shop where my brother and I gave in to our curiosity and bought a 500 piece puzzle, which we assembled that night.
Our masterpiece may look simple, but it took us 5 long hours to do it. Some of the details on those puzzle pieces were very hard to distinguish. The experience was tiring, yet challenging and slightly addicting… We may want to assemble another one!
