I started blogging in 2010, when I was still living in the US. I was doing some side projects at the time that required social media marketing efforts so I wanted to try and experiment with it. I was also traveling a lot and was (still am) very much into taking and editing pictures. I wanted to have a way to share these pictures and tell my travel stories, but the only immediate means I had at the time was Facebook – and that wasn’t enough. S0, I decided to make a blog – a photo blog to be exact.
I continued to post my photos and tell my travel tales until I didn’t anymore for one reason or another. This year I decided to come back and give my blog another go. But this time I wanted a blog redesign and my own domain name.
I got in touch with a few designers and decided to work with Patricia Alix-Villa of Fancygirl Design Studio. She’s a graphics and website designer who works from home in Singapore. Patricia’s designed a long list of popular blogs and websites so all I had to do was pick my favorite ones and come up with looks and colors that I wanted.
Here’s the Pinterest board I came up with as reference for Patricia.
And she reverted with what I like to think is a winter inspired color inspiration board as well as some initial layout and header designs.
Before Patricia could start working on my blog design, I had to set-up my free hosted site on WordPress.org. My blog was previously on Blogger, so my content had to be migrated from my old site to my new one. For this, she linked me up with The Techie Mom, Jennyfer Tan, who has recently moved to Canada with her family. Jenn is a very nice and very efficient virtual assistant who among other things specializes in WordPress migration. I asked Jenn a lot of questions before officially starting my blog re-design and her answers triggered an introspection that resulted in what my blog is today.
For hosting site and domain name set-up, a friend of mine (Pink My Ride) recommended working with Marge Aberasturi of VA Support Pro. Turns out, Jenn and Marge are partners! So Marge set-up my site, Jenn did my content migration and Patricia re-designed my blog. They all know each other and were such helpful people to work with. Ladies, if you ever come across this post, I can’t thank you enough!
Their collaborative effort paved the way to a new beginning and a rekindled vision for my blog. 🙂
