What I saw in Beijing was a lovely surprise. The city surpassed my every expectation. The roads were wide, the buildings were a nice mix of modern and traditional, and the tourist sites were very well preserved. The food was also really good. Because we didn’t know the language, my friend and I decided to join a tour group to make sure we’d be able to cover the essential places in the city.
Beijing has wide, 7-lane roads with other smaller roads that criss-cross over bridges to direct traffic.
Some buildings are still reminiscent of old Chinese designs. This one in particular is a shopping mall.
While others look completely modern.
One last look at the city as we drove away. To this day, I still don’t know what these characters mean. 🙂
